b'TAFE NSW ALUMNI CASE STUDY:REBECCA HIGGINS The fit-for-purpose training facility at TAFE NSW Kingswood is responding to the needs of students like Rebecca Higgins who are creating new careers in the health industry.Rebecca is a Kingswood local who left high school early at 16 to raise her children. Rebecca always felt fulfilled as a mother but as her children reached school age, Rebecca decided to follow a career in the health care industry like her father, mother and grandmother before her. Rebecca started her career transition by studying a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in nursing work in Acute Care) at TAFE NSW Kingswood.The campus provided a simulated hospital ward experience with interactive mannequins for Rebecca and her fellow students to train with.Rebecca excelled in her course and went on to complete her Diploma of Nursing at TAFE NSW Kingswood, and progressed her way to a Bachelor of Nursing at Western Sydney University which she graduated from last year. Rebecca is now employed by Nepean Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Hospitals GradStart program, which includes three rotations in both acute care and specialty areas.
